At Least Something Good Came of โ€œThe Slipโ€

The year is 2014. I'm in my US History class hiding my iPhone underneath my desk so I don't get caught looking at the Premier League table on the fledgling ESPN app. I know I'm interested in English soccer, but I don't know which team to choose. I don't want to pick the number one team because I don't want to be a band wagoner and I don't want to pick a team that isn't competitive. So, whoever comes in second is going to be the team that I choose. Ironic as it sounds, LFC's misfortune that year was what caused me to become the fan that I am today. Since then, I have learned what the identity of the club and city is and as I developed my own beliefs and values as an adult in college, I noticed that I felt among the supporters of the club. One day at the beginning of the 15-16 season, I attempted to find a home in the city where I could watch the match with fellow fans. I distinctly remember finding the Vic on Facebook and feeling incredibly excited. After attending my first match at the Vic and experiencing the atmosphere and camaraderie, I knew that LFC was my club. Despite being an ocean away, I've never felt more connected to a tribe.
